See our Weekly Rides Poster for a summary of the club rides on offer.
Club rides provide an opportunity to ride in a group with the benefits of drafting, camaraderie and social interaction. A cafe stop will often provide an opportunity to relax and recover.
Safety is paramount; if you're not used to riding in a group, please read the page on Etiquette. Stay at the back of the group until you're confident that you can ride alongside other riders.
When and where?
All rides leave from the Blackwell Post Office on Carmel Road South:
Saturday 9:00am during British Summertime, 9:30am when the clocks go back. Friendly Entry level (approx. 10-12mph) and Intermediate level (14mph) rides ideal for those new to cycling. Rides are 15-25 or 25-35 miles depending on the group and include a cafe stop on route. These rides are accompanied by experienced riders, no-one is left behind. Call Chris Flood on 01325 495451 for more information.
Sunday 9:00am, covers anything from 50 to 100 miles, but generally in the region of 50 to 65 miles during the summer months, and shorter distances as the weather worsens. The route is chosen on the day and depends on weather, wind direction and who's there. A café stop provides an opportunity to re-fuel and recover. This is a steady ride and a good introduction for anyone just starting out and wanting to increase their mileage.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30am, a group meet up all year round (weather permitting) for a 40-75 mile ride. This is a social ride, the group will wait for the slowest rider.
During the summer months there is a social ride (approx 14mph) leaving at 6:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A faster group (16-18mph) also leaves at 6:00pm on Thursdays. Both rides are generally 25 to 30 miles.
